Simon Donohue has been appointed as the Associate Director of SEC Newgate’s Northern office, where he will lead efforts to develop strategic communications and advocacy initiatives from Manchester. His experience spans over ten years in both public and private sector communications, a background that uniquely positions him to support SEC Newgate’s mission in the region.
His previous role at Transport for Greater Manchester saw him actively support the rollout of the Bee Network, an initiative aimed at establishing a fully integrated, transport system in the area akin to the model seen in London. Additionally, Donohue was instrumental in the communications strategy for the Greater Manchester Clean Air Plan, showcasing his capacity to manage complex and impactful projects.
Donohue’s career began in journalism, where he served as a stalwart at Manchester Evening News for 15 years. His journalistic experience is extensive, having worked across business and features desks, and he also took on the role of editor for the award-winning Greater Manchester Business Week. Such experience enhances SEC Newgate’s capacity to deliver narrative-driven strategic communications.
Prior to joining SEC Newgate, Donohue was part of the senior management team at Intelligent Conversation, a Manchester-based PR consultancy, where he handled clients ranging from utilities companies to universities.
