Majestic has teamed up with Just Eat to offer a rapid delivery service for its extensive range of wines and premium spirits, amid heightened demand in the market. Customers can select from a wide variety of wines, including Champagne, Bordeaux, and New Zealand varieties, as well as premium spirits, all available for delivery in as little as 30 minutes through the Just Eat app.
Initially launched across 43 stores, including 16 in London, the partnership is set to extend to 177 stores across the UK by Christmas. Locations included in this first phase encompass cities like Edinburgh, Sheffield, Derby, Abingdon, and High Wycombe.
Majestic is looking to capture the growing demand for convenient local delivery services, building on the success of their Shop Local initiative. This service allows real-time browsing of local store stock, offering options for quick collection or next-day home delivery, which made up over 20% of Majestic’s sales in the 2023/24 period.
Maria Lopez, Majestic’s commercial general manager, commented on the new venture, highlighting that it supports their strategy to meet customer needs more effectively. She stated, “This exciting new partnership with Just Eat will allow us to serve even more customers, whenever they need us, through the rapidly growing on-demand channel.”
The collaboration with Just Eat enriches Majestic’s portfolio of rapid delivery solutions, which already includes partnerships with Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Gophr. This is part of a broader effort by the retailer to leverage local delivery options and enhance customer satisfaction.
Amy Heather, Just Eat’s director of strategic partnerships, expressed enthusiasm about the addition, noting, “We’re delighted to add Majestic’s selection of quality wines, beers and spirits to the growing range of retailers we’re bringing to Just Eat’s customers.”
Majestic continues to expand its physical presence as well, with plans announced by CEO John Colley to open more than 50 new stores. This follows a recent period of growth, marked by the opening of 15 new stores since being acquired by the US private equity firm Fortress in 2019.
Majestic’s strategic partnership with Just Eat is set to significantly enhance its service, meeting the fast-paced demands of today’s consumers.
