Haydale embarks on a trial in Jersey to test new underfloor heating technology.
- The Ammanford firm partners with Jersey Energy Technologies for this initiative.
- Their graphene-based system promises up to 30% lower costs and swift heating.
- The trial aims to gather real-world data over the winter period.
- If successful, the technology will expand to more homes in the Channel Islands.
Haydale, a company based in Ammanford known for its advancements in materials and nanotechnology, has announced a pilot trial of its new underfloor heating technology in Jersey. This trial, a collaboration with Jersey Energy Technologies (JET), seeks to enhance energy efficiency in social housing across the Channel Islands.
The innovative heating system utilizes Haydale’s proprietary graphene technology, renowned for its superior thermal conductivity properties. The potential for up to 30% lower operating costs compared to traditional wired systems is particularly significant. In controlled settings, these heaters demonstrated not only economic efficiency but also improved flexibility and durability, achieving maximum temperatures swiftly.
The upcoming trial with JET marks the first real-world application of Haydale’s product. Scheduled for installation later this year, it will collate data throughout the winter to validate internal testing results. By the new year, this data could pave the way for broader application across the region, given the promising initial findings.
Under an exclusive distribution agreement, JET will have the commercial rights to deploy this technology throughout the Channel Islands. A successful trial may lead to phased installations aimed at reducing heating costs and enhancing comfort for residents. Haydale’s technology not only aims to provide efficient heating but also significantly reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.
Keith Broadbent, CEO of Haydale, emphasized the company’s commitment: “We are thrilled to collaborate with JET, showcasing our ability to use our plasma functionalisation technology platform for commercialisation. Our underfloor heating system not only provides superior comfort but also represents a significant step forward in reducing environmental impact and energy costs.”
George Eves, founder of JET, expressed excitement over the partnership, highlighting the alignment with their mission: “The adoption of Haydale’s advanced underfloor heating technology aligns perfectly with our mission to provide high-quality, sustainable living solutions to the residents of the Channel Islands.”
The successful trial of Haydale’s underfloor heating technology could revolutionize energy efficiency in social housing across the Channel Islands.
