Class 5 is the brainchild of Nickie Sault, a BAFTA-nominated producer known for her work on popular dramas such as ‘The Gallows Pole’ and ‘The Virtues’. Sault’s vision for Class 5 is to create an environment where both new and seasoned talents can collaborate creatively. The company is committed to producing content that resonates deeply with audiences, aiming to offer an engaging experience both on-screen and off.
In its first venture, Class 5 is collaborating with international best-selling author Ben Myers on his debut feature film screenplay, ‘Rare Singles’. This project is being co-produced in association with Warner Music Entertainment. ‘Rare Singles’ is based on Myers’ novel and is a heartwarming story set between Chicago and Scarborough, focusing on unexpected friendships, life’s second chances, and the soulful world of music.
Nickie Sault commented on the responsibility creators have to ensure meaningful content is produced, stating, “I believe that film and television has the power to drive societal change, and I take that responsibility seriously. When people spend their hard-earned money to see a film or commit hours of their life to watching something on television, we, as creators, need to earn that privilege by making sure that what we put out into the world is meaningful.”
The collaboration with Ben Myers is particularly exciting for Sault, who values the safe and inclusive creative environment at Class 5. This partnership with Myers and Warner Music is expected to bring the best out of everyone involved. Myers expressed his gratitude for being part of Class 5’s launch, highlighting Sault’s significant contributions to his novel’s adaptation.
Warner Music Entertainment’s Ally Gipps praised the partnership, stating they are eager to bring Myers’ musically rich world to the screen. Gipps emphasized the belief in this project and the confidence in Sault’s ability to maximize its potential.
Nickie Sault’s career, which spans 25 years from a runner to an acclaimed producer, is marked by her longstanding collaboration with filmmaker Shane Meadows. Her working-class roots inspire Class 5’s mission to offer opportunities to disadvantaged individuals. In 2025, Class 5 will launch a non-profit initiative, Class 5 Crew, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of working-class talent.
Nickie Sault’s Class 5 stands as a beacon for creative collaboration, diversity, and meaningful storytelling in the film and television industry.
