BBC4 has made a significant acquisition by picking up An t-Eilean (The Island), the most substantial drama produced by BBC Alba. This drama, distinguished by its unique integration of Gaelic and English dialogue, unfolds within the stunning Western Isles of Scotland. It’s a milestone for Gaelic-language productions on an international platform, facilitated by key industry player All3Media International.
Leading the cast is Sorcha Groundsell, known for her role in The Innocents. She portrays a young family liaison officer embroiled in the complex investigation of a woman’s murder at a secluded family castle. The narrative is intricately woven through the perspectives of the victim’s four grown children, who converge on the island in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The series boasts a talented cast including Sagar Radia from Industry, Iain Macrae, Sinéad MacInnes from Outlander, among others.
