Tesco has announced substantial price reductions for its traditional Christmas dinner offerings, aimed primarily at Clubcard members. These reductions are particularly significant, with a focus on making holiday celebrations more affordable. The initiative allows Clubcard members to prepare a meal for six during the holiday period, costing only £1.84 per person. A key component of these savings is the price cut on small, fresh turkeys, now available at £3 per kilo, thanks to a 40% discount for cardholders.
Moreover, shoppers will find that essential vegetables such as carrots and parsnips are priced at just 15p per bag. Additionally, sage and onion stuffing is offered at a discounted price of 40p for those with a Clubcard. Overall, this reduction leads to a total cost of £11.05 for a Christmas dinner serving six people.
This year’s pricing represents a 12% decrease from the previous year’s cost, where the expense was £2.09 per person. Ashwin Prasad, Tesco’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of these savings by stating, ‘We know that every little really does help at this time of year, and, with the traditional Christmas dinner at the heart of celebrations across the country this December, we were determined to deliver our customers truly great value on the turkey and trimmings, even compared with last year.’
In addition to these Christmas dinner staples, Tesco is offering other seasonal discounts to Clubcard holders. These include half-price deals on its Finest mince pies and significant markdowns on beef, pork, gammon joints, and whole salmon sides. This comprehensive set of discounts aligns with similar strategies employed by competitors such as Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Aldi, who have also reduced prices on pivotal Christmas food items to just 15p.
These strategic price reductions make Tesco a compelling option for cost-effective holiday dining.
