Morrisons has announced a significant reduction in the prices of key vegetables needed for Christmas dinner. From December 18 to December 24, customers with a Morrisons More Card can purchase 1kg of carrots, 500g of parsnips, 500g of Brussel sprouts, and a whole British swede for just 10p each. This initiative aims to help customers enjoy their traditional roast without stretching their budget.
Moreover, a special offer is available for 2kg bags of potatoes, now offered at half price for £1.15, extending through to January 1. This price slash is aimed at making holiday meals affordable for more households.
Fraser Lovatt, the supermarket’s category director of produce and horticulture, emphasized the importance of these seasonal vegetables, stating, “No Christmas dinner is complete without all the trimmings of the seasonal vegetables.” By lowering these costs, the supermarket is ensuring that customers can enjoy a complete festive meal at a reduced expense.
Beyond just cost savings, this move also targets reducing food wastage. By enabling higher sales of these vegetables, Morrisons is helping to prevent surplus produce from going to waste, thus supporting a more sustainable approach to holiday shopping. Lovatt noted, “Selling more of these products also stops them from going to waste and enables us to give more back to our important network of British farmers.”
Morrisons’ pricing strategy not only makes Christmas dinners more affordable but also aligns with sustainable practices by minimizing food waste.
