Nisa Retail’s top executives, Peter Batt and Ayaz Alam, are leaving, impacting leadership.
- Peter Batt, Managing Director, will exit after joining in September 2022, previously a Co-op veteran.
- Ayaz Alam departs after six years as Commercial Director, with past roles at Asda.
- Interim leadership will be filled by Jerome Saint-Marc and Sinead Bell from Co-op.
- Recent changes include hiring Taranjit Singh Dhillon to boost Nisa’s retail and sales leadership.
Nisa Retail is undergoing significant leadership changes as both Managing Director Peter Batt and Commercial Director Ayaz Alam prepare to leave the company. The departure of these key figures marks a notable shift in Nisa’s management. Batt, who joined Nisa as Managing Director in September 2022, brought with him nearly eight years of experience from Sainsbury’s and seven and a half years as Divisional Managing Director at Co-op.
Ayaz Alam, who has been at the helm of Nisa’s commercial operations for the past six years, is also set to step down. During his tenure, Alam utilized his extensive background from senior trading roles at Asda to enhance Nisa’s commercial strategies.
In the wake of these departures, Jerome Saint-Marc, Co-op’s Managing Director for B2B and Growth, will oversee Nisa’s day-to-day operations. In tandem, Sinead Bell, Co-op Commercial Director, will manage the commercial team, taking on these additional responsibilities until new appointments are made.
The fresh changes are a part of a broader strategy embraced by Nisa earlier this year, when they brought on board Taranjit Singh Dhillon from One Stop Stores as the head of retail, reporting to Katie Secretan, Director of Sales and Retail. This move was aimed at amplifying Nisa’s retail footprint.
The news of these leadership changes was communicated to staff via email on December 20th, marking a decisive moment in Nisa’s strategic direction.
Nisa Retail’s leadership transition signifies a new chapter for the company’s strategic growth.
