Poundstretcher is making significant strides in reorganizing its leadership team following its acquisition by the private equity firm Fortress. With Andy Atkinson, the former commercial director at Morrisons, now serving as CEO, the company is poised for transformative growth. Atkinson’s appointment marks the beginning of a new strategic direction for Poundstretcher, as it seeks to enhance its operational efficiency and market reach.
In a bid to fortify its operations, Poundstretcher has appointed Miles Foster, the former operations director at Morrisons, to the same role within Poundstretcher. Foster, who dedicated 35 years to Morrisons, brings a wealth of experience that is expected to play a pivotal role in overseeing over 300 Poundstretcher stores. His leadership is anticipated to drive the retailer’s growth plans and operational excellence.
Alongside Foster, Tony Fearon joins Poundstretcher as the group commercial director, another pivotal recruitment from Morrisons. Fearon has significantly bolstered his team by bringing in former Morrisons buying executive Connor Black and ex-Poundland executive Kyle Storey, who will focus on trading within the pets and FMCG sectors respectively. This strategic build-up aims to enhance the retailer’s commercial operations and competitive edge.
In further strengthening its operational backbone, Poundstretcher has named Liz Harris to lead its retail operations team. Harris, who carries nearly two decades of experience from Morrisons, is set to streamline and optimize retail operations at Poundstretcher. Her team is further supported by Annette Beecham from Home Bargains and B&M, and Mandy Fitzpatrick from Poundland, who will manage the loss prevention team.
CEO Andy Atkinson expressed enthusiasm about the strategic reinforcement, stating, “As we start this long and important journey, I am delighted that such a talented group of leaders have chosen to take the next step in their careers with us. These people are the best in the industry, and share our values in supporting our colleagues, and putting customers first. These are exciting times ahead for Poundstretcher.”
With these strategic appointments, Poundstretcher is set on a robust path to elevate its market position and operational performance.
