Sainsbury’s has rolled out an engaging festive initiative aimed at rewarding its Nectar customers with extra points during the holiday season. This initiative, known as the ‘Count up to Christmas’ challenge, provides all digitally registered users with an opportunity to collect at least 1,500 bonus points. From October 9 to December 15, participants can join the challenge by logging into their Nectar app and selecting ‘join the challenge’ to unveil five personalized shopping tasks.
These tasks can be completed either in-store or online and, upon completion, users will receive bonus Nectar points on top of the regular points earned during their shop. The tasks are tailored to each user’s shopping habits, thus ensuring a unique and personalized experience.
Alex Naisby, Sainsbury’s director of CRM and loyalty, expressed enthusiasm for the return of this popular challenge, emphasizing its potential to enhance the holiday shopping experience for customers. He stated, ‘Returning for another year, our hugely popular Count up to Christmas challenge offers customers another way to collect even more Nectar points when shopping with Sainsbury’s. Whether you like to save them up for a seasonal treat or put them towards your weekly shop, we hope that our customers enjoy getting in the festive spirit with us in the run up to Christmas.’
In addition to the challenge, Sainsbury’s is preparing for the busy Christmas period by creating 20,000 new seasonal positions across its stores, warehouses, and online fulfillment centers. This staffing effort includes 18,000 roles within Sainsbury’s itself, along with an additional 2,000 positions for Argos. These new roles are designed to meet the anticipated demand during the festive season and support the increased workload.
This strategic move not only assists in handling the holiday rush but also provides temporary employment opportunities nationwide. Sainsbury’s continues to adapt and innovate during peak shopping times, ensuring a seamless experience for both its customers and employees.
Sainsbury’s ‘Count up to Christmas’ challenge and seasonal recruitment demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the festive experience for its customers and workforce.
