BBC Children’s and Education has unveiled ‘Playtime Towers’, an exciting show for pre-schoolers aged 2 to 4. This new program aims to celebrate imaginative play through educational content and is currently being filmed in Glasgow. Set in a fantastical tower block, it’s a fresh take on beloved children’s TV formats and promises to enchant young audiences.
Filming in Glasgow marks a significant location choice for the series, diverging from the usual Salford base. Known for its creative heritage, Glasgow offers a vibrant backdrop for this innovative project. It follows in the footsteps of other major shows like ‘Saturday Mash-up!’ which also found new creative grounds in the city.
The show is a production of BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions, with Executive Producer Anna Perowne at the helm. Bella the Elevator Fun Maker, played by newcomer Rose-Marie Christian, guides pre-schoolers along with their parents on a journey across different floors, each offering unique activities and fun.
Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Little ones and their grown-ups will love this new take on the classic children’s TV format.” The show aims to provide magical moments reminiscent of family favorites such as ‘Playschool’ and ‘Show Me, Show Me’.
Commissioning Executives Julia Bond and Dan Flint have overseen the show’s creation, ensuring it appeals to its young audience by tapping into their innate creativity. The program is poised to become a gateway to other enriching CBeebies content as its viewers grow, continuing a tradition of high-quality educational entertainment.
