Card Factory has renewed its partnership with Aldi, expanding their existing agreement to secure an exclusive deal to supply cards for the supermarket. This new arrangement covers Aldi’s expanding estate of 1,200 stores in the UK and, for the first time, Ireland, marking a significant milestone in their collaboration.
Previously, Card Factory supplied cards to 550 Aldi stores, sharing the supplier contract with another company. However, this new deal designates them as the sole card supplier, effectively doubling their reach and influence across Aldi’s retail network.
The agreement is part of Card Factory’s strategic initiative to broaden its physical retail presence. Following a successful trial, they expanded their concessions to all Matalan branches, signaling a robust plan to cement their footing in the physical retail space.
Despite the positive momentum in partnerships, Card Factory reported a 43% decrease in pre-tax profits to £14 million for the first half of the year. Nevertheless, they experienced a 6% increase in sales, showcasing resilience and adaptability in a challenging market environment.
The exclusive partnership with Aldi reinforces Card Factory’s strategy to expand its market presence amid challenging economic conditions.
