In a strategic partnership with Clarks, celebrated menswear designer Martine Rose has released her much-anticipated debut collection. This launch marks her role as the guest creative director for the renowned footwear brand. Last June, Rose offered a glimpse of this novel collaboration at her spring/summer 2024 show, capturing the attention of fashion enthusiasts.
This exclusive collection is now available on MartineRose.com and at Selfridges in London, with wider availability starting February 16, through Clarks’ online platform and selected stores. Price points for the collection range from £140 to £260, catering to a variety of fashion-forward consumers.
The collection takes inspiration from Clarks’ iconic advertisements of the 1980s, featuring cozy, household settings to emphasize the comfort imbued in each shoe. Such imagery is brought to life in the campaign titled ‘Coming Up Roses’, captured by Sharna Osbourne, where models are pictured in intimate, black and white bedroom settings, styled to highlight the softness of the designs.
In Rose’s words, “The collection was about comfort and this overblown feeling of softness and squidginess.” Indeed, the four styles—Oxfords, loafers, sandals, and the Torhill Hi—reflect this ethos, blending archival shapes with modern design elements. Each pair is crafted with 100% recycled nylon fabric uppers and leather linings, ensuring breathability and a cushioned feel.
Color options range from brazen pink to sophisticated oxblood, black, and snake-effect prints, offering both bold and classic looks. Rose emphasizes the importance of intimacy and personal space in her designs, aligning her vision with Clarks’ household name recognition, aiming to resonate with a broad audience.
Martine Rose’s collaboration with Clarks successfully marries heritage with modernity, offering a fresh, comfortable take on classic styles.
