- This initiative aligns with Tesco’s broader strategy to digitally overhaul its in-store cafés.
Tesco has announced an innovative partnership with Creams, a well-known dessert parlour, to open concessions within its UK stores. This collaboration follows a successful trial at Tesco Extra Streatham last November, indicating strong consumer demand and operational viability. The move is set to revolutionize the in-store dining experience for Tesco customers by offering a distinct culinary alternative.
The first concession will open at the Gateshead, Newcastle location on August 3rd, followed closely by another site in Maryhill. Tesco plans to expand these offerings throughout the UK by the end of the year, reflecting the retailer’s strategic commitment to enhancing its service offerings and integrating innovative food solutions.
Managed by Tesco employees, the Creams concessions will provide an array of dessert items including 24 flavors of gelato ice cream along with waffles, cookie dough, crepes, sundaes, and milkshakes. This addition will be available alongside Tesco’s current menu items, ensuring a varied menu for customers.
Creams CEO Everett Fieldgate emphasized the strategic alignment and uniqueness of this partnership, stating, “This is a fantastic fit for both us and Tesco… This is going to give Tesco something that I believe is unique among UK supermarkets and possibly anywhere in the world.”
Moreover, this partnership coincides with Tesco’s broader digital transformation of its café services through collaboration with technology firm Givex. The introduction of digital kiosks, kitchen automation systems, and enhanced inventory control portrays Tesco’s vision of integrating technology to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
This collaboration exemplifies Tesco’s innovative approach to enhancing customer experience through strategic partnerships and digital transformation.
