Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has officially moved into its new premises at Lake View in Stoke Gifford, Bristol, marking a significant step in its long-standing relationship with the city. The relocation consolidates the company’s efforts to centralize its operations, which include critical work in storage, super-computing, hybrid cloud, and cybersecurity. This strategic move brings together more than 200 staff members, uniting diverse teams under one roof to streamline processes and encourage cohesive collaboration.
Previously stationed in Filton, HPE’s Bristol presence has evolved from its origins as an assembly facility for storage drives to a key hub for research and development. Notably, the Cray supercomputing team, whose expertise has supported the creation of some of the world’s most powerful supercomputers like the Frontier and the University of Bristol’s Isambard-AI, will also be based in this new location. Cray, acquired by HPE in 2019, has retained its vital role in advancing supercomputing capabilities, reinforcing Bristol’s status as a critical site for tech innovation.
Matt Harris, senior vice president and managing director for UK, Ireland, Middle East, and Africa at HPE, emphasized the timeliness of this consolidation. “Now is the perfect time to bring our storage, cloud, labs and supercomputing R&D teams together under one roof as we accelerate into the AI era,” Harris remarked, highlighting HPE’s strategic vision for the forthcoming technological advancements.
This relocation is set to enhance HPE’s influence in the local tech community by fostering an environment conducive to innovation and growth. The office includes a variety of working environments such as laboratories, collaboration spaces, and focused areas specifically designed to maximize flexibility and promote employee wellness. Additionally, the site features an on-site gym and squash court, as well as bespoke artwork by local Bristol graffiti artists, which pays homage to the city’s rich cultural heritage.
