Castore, a prominent name in sportswear, is set to enhance its retail presence by opening a new store in Derby’s bustling Derbion shopping center. The Manchester-based brand has committed to a 10-year lease for a 1,771 sq ft retail unit, signaling its dedication to expanding its market reach.
The new outlet is strategically positioned next to Footlocker on the second floor, ensuring a high footfall and aligning with its customer acquisition strategy. This location decision underscores Castore’s intent to capitalize on the shopping center’s reputation for attracting a diverse consumer base from the East Midlands.
Since its inception in 2015, Castore has rapidly grown its retail network, boasting more than 30 locations globally. Of these, 16 are situated in the United Kingdom, reflecting its strong domestic foothold. The company is not new to international expansion, with significant openings such as its flagship store in Dubai Mall in October 2023 and a concept store in Dublin in early 2024.
Peter Alecock, who recently joined Castore as the commercial director, expressed enthusiasm about the new store’s potential impact. He stated, “We are really excited to be opening our latest store at Derbion as we look to bring our quality array of sportswear to Derby shoppers.” Alecock highlighted Derbion’s capacity to draw shoppers from across the East Midlands, making it an ideal venue for Castore’s first foray into the city.
