- Both executives will report to Asda’s incoming Chief Operations Officer, Matt Heslop.
- This leadership enhancement aligns with Asda’s ambitious growth plans for 2025.
In a strategic restructuring move, Asda has announced the appointment of two new senior leaders to bolster its management team, aiming to drive its growth objectives. Lauren Lepley, previously a vice president at Morrisons, brings over a decade of experience in the grocery sector, having held significant roles at both Tesco and Morrisons. Her tenure with Asda is expected to commence in early December, where she will utilize her extensive industry experience to foster operational improvements.
Mark Henry, formerly a key figure at M&S as group director of asset protection, joins Asda in January as the vice president of retail south. Henry’s arrival at Asda introduces over 25 years of expertise in operational excellence and executive leadership. His role will encompass overseeing the supermarket’s southern operations, a critical region for Asda’s market presence.
Both Lepley and Henry will operate under the guidance of Matt Heslop, Asda’s soon-to-be Chief Operations Officer, also coming on board in January. Heslop is anticipated to play an instrumental role in streamlining Asda’s operational strategies, with both new hires reporting directly to him.
Asda’s chairman, Lord Rose, has expressed optimism about these appointments, stating: “We are very pleased to welcome Lauren and Mark to Asda. They both bring a wealth of retail experience and proven track records in delivering operational excellence.” This sentiment underscores the strategic importance of these hires as Asda positions itself for long-term growth.
These leadership appointments mark a pivotal step in Asda’s journey towards achieving its ambitious growth targets by 2025.
