In a remarkable display of dedication and teamwork, six colleagues from Blick Rothenberg participated in a demanding 50-mile walk along the picturesque coastline of Jersey. This initiative aimed to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Connection at St Martin’s, in homage to two former employees, Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock, both cherished members who lost their lives to cancer. This event also marked a significant milestone, echoing the first Jersey Walk conducted by the firm 15 years ago.
Heading the walk, Heather Powell, Head of Property, recounted the journey that began from Gorey on the East Coast on Friday the 13th. She vividly described the unexpectedly beautiful weather and stunning Mediterranean-like vistas that served as a morale booster amid the strenuous trek. Powell emphasized the role these scenic views played in diverting the team’s focus from the physical pain that progressively surfaced as they advanced on their route.
The walk, described humorously as fueled by ‘diet coke and painkillers’ by Powell, was not just a physical challenge but a testament to the strong bond and lively conversations that sustained the group. Each member’s unwavering support was instrumental in overcoming the rigorous terrain and reaching the captivating beaches as the finish line neared.
Upon concluding their journey at Gorey Castle, the team was enveloped in a profound sense of achievement. The successful walk was made possible by the outpouring of contributions from over 300 donors, with additional support pledged from Blick Rothenberg, furthering its tradition of supporting worthy causes like The Connection.
Heather Powell expressed heartfelt gratitude towards all contributors, stating that the funds raised exceeded £10,000. This achievement highlights the collective spirit of the firm and its unwavering dedication to making a positive difference through philanthropy.
Blick Rothenberg’s commitment to cancer charities reflects a profound legacy of collaborative philanthropy and community support.
