Betfred has embarked on a transformative journey with the grand reopening of its North West headquarters, marking a significant new phase for the company. The extensive refurbishment of the former sports arena at Birchwood has resulted in a state-of-the-art facility featuring unique elements like the ‘Immersion Tunnel’ and the ‘Nifty 50’ studio dedicated to Betfred’s numbers game.
The official opening was graced by the presence of Fred Done, the company’s lead figure, alongside the distinguished Speaker of the House of Commons and President of the Rugby Football League, the Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle. Done expressed immense pride in the evolution of the company from its singular shop presence in Salford in 1967 to its current stature.
The refurbishment began in 2021 and was a comprehensive internal project led by Betfred’s Head of Asset Management, Peter Buckles, and Senior Project Manager, Helen Haworth. Buckles emphasized the importance of aligning the project with Betfred’s specific business needs, ensuring continuity in operations for over 1400 shops and the Betfred website, even amidst the major renovations.
The newly renovated headquarters, which spans 50,000 square feet, is set to accommodate more than 450 employees. This redesigned space is envisaged as an inspiring environment where ideas can thrive, aligning with Betfred’s bold ambitions. CEO Joanne Whitaker highlighted the commitment to the company’s roots in the Northwest while embracing modernity.
Notably, the internal design was crafted by Jackson Downes, known for their work with other significant brands. Betfred’s strategic location choices extend beyond this, with offices in Manchester’s city center, MediaCity in Salford, and international branches in Gibraltar, the United States, and South Africa.
Betfred’s refurbished headquarters symbolizes a forward-thinking vision while staying true to its roots.
