The company notably achieved an impressive 282% rise in its operating income, amounting to $130 million for the three months leading to May 4. This remarkable improvement underscores the company’s strategic execution and brand strength.
During this period, the firm’s net sales experienced a robust 22% year-on-year increase, reaching a record $1 billion, marking it as the highest first-quarter sales in the company’s history. This surge was primarily driven by the outstanding performance of Abercrombie & Fitch and Abercrombie Kids, where sales soared by 31%. Complementary growth was observed with Hollister and Gilly Hicks, which recorded a 12% increase in sales.
Looking ahead, the company has revised its net sales expectations for the current financial year to approximately 10%, a notable raise from the previous forecast of 4% to 6%. Furthermore, Abercrombie & Fitch anticipates an operating margin of about 14%, up from its earlier projection of roughly 12%. This adjustment reflects the company’s confidence in sustaining its profitable growth trajectory.
CEO Fran Horowitz expressed optimism, stating: “Our outstanding first quarter results reflect the power of our brands and strong execution of our global playbook.
