The new store, opening on August 23, spans an impressive 125,000 square feet, marking it as potentially the largest of its kind in Europe.
In anticipation of a successful launch, Go Outdoors has arranged for a special opening event. Brand ambassador and television personality, Helen Skelton, will host the festivities on September 7 and 8, promising an engaging start for visitors.
Shoppers will be treated to a vast array of products, with the store stocking over 380 brands. These include popular names such as Adidas, Dickies, Salomon, Merrell, and Oakley, alongside new entries like Sweaty Betty, Under Armour, and Regatta X Orla Kiely. Further enhancing the shopping experience are 30 branded concessions, featuring the inaugural concession for Adidas’s hiking and trail line, Terrex.
Adding to the appeal, the store introduces the Alpine Café, a new concept café serving freshly prepared meals sourced from local ingredients. This adds a community-centric touch to the expansive retail offering, ensuring visitors can enjoy a holistic shopping experience.
The economic impact of the new store is also noteworthy, bringing about 42 new jobs to the area. From these, 28 staff members will transition from the existing Go Outdoors store in York. CEO Lee Bagnall expressed immense pride in this flagship venture, emphasizing the company’s commitment to offering premier brands and services.
Reflecting on the broader implications, Vangarde Shopping Centre manager, Deb O’Donnell, highlighted the store as a significant addition to the shopping hub. O’Donnell noted its dual role as a shopping destination and community center, inviting outdoor enthusiasts to explore the comprehensive offerings.
The launch of Go Outdoors’ flagship store in York marks a new era for outdoor retail, offering unmatched diversity and service.
