Harvey Nichols has launched its 2024 holiday windows, drawing inspiration from the imaginative world of Tim Burton. In a collaboration with the Design Museum, the department store showcases five exclusive sculptures from Burton’s private collection, creating a stunning prelude to the upcoming ‘The World of Tim Burton’ exhibition.
Central to this display are pieces from ‘The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories’, which add a unique ‘playful yet eerie whimsy’. The distinctiveness of Burton’s style brings a fresh and intriguing visual experience that captures the essence of festive spirit through a lens of fantasy.
The store’s windows creatively reinterpret Burton’s iconic aesthetic with a focus on luxury. Twisted, eerie trees populate the scenes, each window narrating its own story, merging the surreal with the celebratory. These displays create an inviting visual journey for onlookers, transporting them into a dreamy landscape.
Janet Wardley, head of visual display, describes the Christmas windows as inspired by Burton’s exhibition at the Design Museum. ‘Silhouettes of trees frame both the interior and exterior, creating a captivating fantasy forest,’ she says. Inside, unique crystal and metal trees adorned with the store’s finest gifts, guide visitors through a holiday wonderland.
Extending beyond the flagship store, Harvey Nichols’ outlets in Leeds, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and Dublin will also feature these inventive displays, spreading the enchanting essence of Tim Burton’s imagery throughout the country.
