Peter Ruis, serving as the executive director at John Lewis Partnership, will be part of the speaker line-up at the Drapers Inner Circle Summit scheduled for October 16 at the Ham Yard Hotel in London. This prestigious event is set to unveil his vision for the next phase of transformation for the notable retailing giant. Ruis plans to provide attendees with valuable insights into the business’s ambitious goals concerning its in-house fashion brands and strategies for evolving into a multi-brand platform.
Ruis’s experience is extensive, having held prior significant positions as the buying and brand chief for John Lewis and serving as the former CEO of the premium fashion retailer Jigsaw. His return to John Lewis as executive director in January marked a renewed focus on harnessing the potential of in-house brands. In March, Ruis explicitly outlined these strategic priorities: “[We are] investing in key categories [including] our own brand and our branded proposition. Own brand fashion sales were up as we sharpen our focus on fit and style [with] improved fabrications. Men’s and women’s own brand both saw sales grow by 3%. We introduced 100 new fashion brands such as Rag & Bone, Equipment and Vivere.”
The summit not only features Ruis but also promises engagement with a roster of other distinguished speakers from the industry. These include Henrietta McCloskey, co-founder of Rixo, Melissa Mullen, global brand president and chief executive of Sweaty Betty, Parker Gundersen, chief executive of END Clothing, and Gianni Georgiades, chief executive officer at FitFlop. This gathering of industry leaders aims to foster discussions and insights into the current and future retail landscape.
