This effort marks an increase compared to last year, evidencing the company’s commitment to fortifying customer service levels. According to M&S, this recruitment drive includes the addition of more than 1,000 new vacancies, aligning with the retailer’s recent investment in colleague hours.
The recruitment window officially opens on October 9, with the new team members beginning their roles on a rolling basis starting from mid-November. M&S is offering a variety of flexible working patterns to accommodate different needs, which may appeal to a broad range of candidates during this seasonal hiring period.
New employees will play a crucial role in delivering the Christmas Food to Order service. This service, which was launched earlier this year on September 24, is pivotal for M&S as they strive to meet customer demands and enhance the festive shopping experience.
Operations Director Sacha Berendji acknowledged the critical contribution of the store colleagues, stating, “Our fantastic store colleagues play such a big part in delivering the magic of M&S at Christmas to our customers.” Berendji emphasized the excitement and dynamic nature of the Christmas period at M&S, noting the opportunities for new recruits to potentially advance within the company after the festive season.
