Dell’Ugo and This have introduced two new plant-based ravioli lines, tapping into the booming vegan market in the UK.
- The Isn’t Bacon & Cheese Ravioli features plant-based bacon with dairy-free gouda.
- The Isn’t Chicken & Pesto Ravioli incorporates vegan chicken with Genovese basil pesto.
- Both ravioli options are now available at Morrisons and the Dell’Ugo website.
- The UK vegan population has surged by 1.1 million from 2023 to 2024.
In a significant move towards catering to the growing plant-based consumer base, Dell’Ugo has launched two innovative ravioli products in collaboration with the esteemed plant-based brand, This. The recent initiative showcases two distinct ravioli variants: the Isn’t Bacon & Cheese and the Isn’t Chicken & Pesto. These creations reflect an acute awareness of the increasing demand for vegan food options, which is evidenced by the noticeable rise in the UK’s vegan population, now accounting for 2.5 million individuals.
The Isn’t Bacon & Cheese Ravioli is a standout for its use of plant-based bacon lardons paired with a creamy, dairy-free gouda. This product aims to mimic the savory delight of traditional bacon and cheese ravioli, offering vegans a reminiscent yet entirely animal-free alternative.
Complementing this is the Isn’t Chicken & Pesto Ravioli, which features This’ well-regarded vegan chicken pieces, accompanied by a rich and fragrant PDO Genovese basil pesto. This variant delivers a classic pesto and chicken flavor profile, reimagined for the plant-based palette.
Sophia Cooke, CEO of Dell’Ugo, remarked on the strategic collaboration with This, highlighting the seamless integration of quality and innovation. Cooke acknowledged, “We have been active in the vegan world for a number of years and were the first to launch fresh filled plant-based vegan pasta.” Her sentiments are echoed by This’ out of home controller, Xander Fletcher, who expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and the integrity of the final products.
This joint effort not only reinforces Dell’Ugo’s commitment to expanding their vegan offerings but also cements This’ reputation as a pioneer in meat alternatives. Fletcher confidently stated, “These are going to fly off the shelves,” underscoring the anticipated consumer appeal and market potential of these new offerings.
This launch marks a pivotal step in meeting the escalating demand for plant-based food in the UK.
