Represent, the esteemed British streetwear brand founded in 2011 by brothers George and Mike Heaton, has effectively taken a strategic step by selling a minority stake to investment firm True. This move is aimed at propelling the brand’s global expansion and diversifying its product categories. The decision is particularly forward-thinking as it prepares to launch its much-anticipated womenswear collection in 2025.
Notably, Represent has exhibited remarkable growth, with a compound annual growth rate of 64% since 2020. The brand’s inclusion as the 68th fastest-growing private company in the UK by The Sunday Times highlights its rapid ascent in the fashion industry.
Represent’s retail strategy is equally ambitious, with recent moves into physical locations. A luxurious boutique in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, has already opened, followed by plans for a flagship store in Manchester this year and a London store set for next summer. These developments underscore the brand’s commitment to expanding its physical footprint.
Paul Spencer, CEO of Represent, stated the importance of selecting partners who contribute to their growth objectives. He expressed enthusiasm about the promising opportunities across different geographies and product lines, particularly the upcoming womenswear line.
Commenting on the partnership, Ejike Onuchukwu, investment director at True and new board member at Represent, emphasized, “Represent is a real success story for British fashion.” He praised the brand’s ability to remain relevant and attract loyal customers even in challenging market conditions.
Represent’s partnership with True marks a pivotal step in striving for global reach and innovation.
