Scotch & Soda, a renowned Amsterdam-based fashion label, has importantly reopened its Carnaby Street store. This reopening follows a challenging period for the brand, which saw the closure of all its UK stores in summer 2023. The store, located at 13/14 Carnaby Street, has been a fixture in the area since August 2013, and its absence was felt by many loyal customers.
The closures were a consequence of financial difficulties leading to bankruptcy, from which the brand was rescued by Bluestar Alliance, a New York brand management company, in March 2023. This strategic acquisition not only saved the label but also enabled it to revitalize its presence in key markets, including the United Kingdom.
Prior to the difficulties, Scotch & Soda boasted a substantial global footprint, operating 224 stores across diverse markets such as the United States, China, Israel, Germany, Egypt, and South Africa. Additionally, the brand maintained an extensive online presence, shipping to over 70 countries.
Victor Barbosa, CEO for Scotch & Soda in South Africa, played a pivotal role in the Carnaby Street store’s relaunch. He stated, “Bringing Scotch & Soda back to Carnaby Street has been an exciting journey. We are thrilled to offer our UK customers a fresh and inviting shopping experience that truly captures the essence of the brand.” His comment underscores the brand’s commitment to delivering a distinctive retail environment that reflects its core values and aesthetic.
Scotch & Soda’s relaunch on Carnaby Street represents a rejuvenated chapter for the brand, strengthening its market presence.
