Snapchat is launching an innovative high-street experience named ‘Snap Street’ this weekend in East London’s vibrant Brick Lane. This initiative will showcase Augmented Reality (AR) technology to create an engaging shopping experience. The event, slated for October 19-20, will be held at Ely’s Yard, transforming it into an indoor street with interactive AR shop fronts representing various brands.
Visitors will have the opportunity to use AR technology to engage with products in a more immersive manner. This not only brings the virtual shopping experience to life but also elevates it by allowing users to interact with brands such as Depop and Boots in innovative ways.
Depop offers a unique chance to win circular fashion items through a claw machine. Shoppers can also utilize an exclusive Snapchat x Depop AR mirror to explore digital fashion try-ons. Concurrently, the Boots installation will introduce shoppers to acclaimed beauty brands such as Made by Mitchell, Beauty Crop, and Milk, through Snapchat x Boots vanity mirrors.
Professional makeup artists and hairstylists will be present on October 19 from 3 PM to 6 PM, augmenting the interactive experience. This setup aims to provide visitors with an engaging, personalized exploration of beauty and fashion.
Ben Wymer, Snapchat’s director of global brand experience, emphasizes the pioneering nature of this AR technology. He notes that it offers a more personalized and engaging shopping opportunity, stating, “We’ll be showing how our pioneering AR technology allows users to experience on screens how products look and behave in the real world.” This marks a significant step towards more interactive retail solutions for consumers and brands alike.
‘Snap Street’ stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of retail, highlighting the pivotal role of AR in enhancing consumer experiences.
