- The transition aims to secure around 1,600 jobs and revitalizes the digital platform with a relaunch scheduled for early 2025.
The Range is preparing to open the first three of its new-format stores on January 17, following its recent acquisition of Homebase and up to 70 store locations. These new stores will be located in Pollokshaws in Glasgow, Christchurch in Bournemouth, and Kings Heath in Birmingham.
CDS, the owner of The Range, aims to integrate the broad product range it is known for with Homebase’s home improvement expertise. This strategy is part of a larger plan to open up to 10 stores monthly throughout 2025, potentially converting up to 70 Homebase outlets. This rapid expansion is expected to secure as many as 1,600 jobs across the country.
In addition to retail, these new stores will include ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’, and selected locations will feature ‘Kitchens by Homebase’, providing bespoke kitchen solutions. This reflects The Range’s commitment to maintaining the strengths of Homebase’s heritage while expanding its service offerings.
While the transition is underway, Homebase’s online presence will continue to operate under the management of joint administrators. A relaunch of the Homebase website is planned for early 2025, which will further support consumers in their home improvement projects.
Alex Simpkin, Group Chief Executive, emphasized the company’s dedication to preserving Homebase’s legacy while enriching the customer experience with The Range’s extensive product line. Simpkin stated, “We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us.”
The Range’s strategic transformation of Homebase locations marks a significant shift in the retail sector, promising robust growth and customer-focused innovations.
