Ori Industries makes history deploying Nvidia’s H200 chips in the UK, enhancing AI capabilities.
- Starting January 2025, Ori Industries will provide UK data centers with powerful Nvidia H200 GPUs.
- The H200 chips offer superior memory and bandwidth, nearly doubling their predecessor’s capabilities.
- Nvidia’s GB200 exascale computers to follow in April, supporting advanced AI applications.
- Nscale expands its AI infrastructure with AMD GPUs and secures significant funding to boost capabilities.
In a landmark move aimed at bolstering the UK’s AI infrastructure, Ori Industries becomes the first company to deploy Nvidia’s H200 chips in the country. This development is set to significantly enhance the computational power available to AI-focused businesses. With plans to make these GPUs available from January 2025, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of technological advancements.
The Nvidia H200 GPUs are known for their impressive specifications, delivering 141GB of memory at 4.8 terabytes per second. This represents nearly double the memory capacity and more than twice the bandwidth of the previous A100 model. Such capabilities make the H200 an attractive choice for AI businesses needing substantial computational resources.
In addition to the H200 GPUs, Ori is preparing to introduce Nvidia’s GB200 exascale computers, with availability expected in April. These systems will cater to both local and international clients, necessitating advanced power and cooling infrastructure. This move underscores Ori’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of AI technology and infrastructure.
CEO Mahdi Yahya highlights the significance of this deployment, stating that Ori’s initiative not only caters to UK businesses but also extends resources to international companies requiring UK-based computing capacity. This strategic expansion comes as Ori continues to advocate for enhanced sovereign cloud infrastructure in the UK.
Alongside Ori Industries, Nscale is also set to leverage the new technology by integrating AMD Instinct GPUs into its operations. Based in London with a data center powered by renewable energy in Norway, Nscale recently secured $155 million in a Series A funding round. This significant financial backing will support its expansion across the UK and Europe, adding up to 250 MW of capacity to its AI cloud platform.
Ori Industries and Nscale’s initiatives mark a significant step forward in advancing the UK’s AI infrastructure.
